ACE #386: The Unashamed Witness

Yesterday, the Mr. in #TeamLewis4Christ preached his Initial Sermon.  No doubt, he has been preparing for years in his heart and his mind.  Although he has been preaching for about two years or so, he still had to go through the traditional ritual of his public presentation.  People can argue back and forth whether this is a necessary step in the process of becoming a preacher, or an ordained one.  At the end of the day, it is the tradition of our church.  But that is not where we should get caught up.  We should be caught up with the fact that another person will be declaring the Gospel of Jesus Christ who is unashamed, undeniable, unafraid and uncompromising in his stance.

This world is terribly divided on many issues.  Most people cannot decide which stance they will take on which issue on whatever day of the week it is.  In the last few weeks, I have witnessed the ugliness of people toward one another - some are Christians, some are not.  Either way, it is not pleasing to God's ears, His eyes, or His heart to see the hatefulness and wickedness that have been displayed.

Christians are called to be the salt and the light of the earth, to make disciples, and to show the love of Jesus Christ.  So, today's challenge, is to be an unashamed witness for the cause of Christ and to invite someone to salvation...but to do so in love.

The grass withers, the flowers fade, but the word of our God remains forever.

 Matthew 5:13-16

13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Romans 1:16
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.
Romans 5:8
but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
