As we celebrate Easter, expressing our belief in the the Risen Savior, Jesus, I hope we understand what we are running to the church to see. You see, when Peter and John arrived at the tomb, they hadn't fully believed the scripture that He would raise from the dead. Therefore, after witnessing a bodiless tomb, I am sure there was some confusion. The Bible says they went home.
My friends, as charged disciples of Jesus, we should understand that Jesus, through faith in His death, His burial and His resurrection, promises to return for those who believe and act according to it. In that, we are joyful when we know that He coming again. Therefore, on Easter Sunday, when folk come running in the church doors, we should be praising a Savior, who lives.
People are coming to church because they are not sure if Christ is dead or alive. They have all kinds of hell going on in their lives and just want to look in and see if there is life in Christ. Is He living? Is He risen? In other words, are we representing a risen Savior or are we sad because He's not here?
Are we letting people know that the body of Christ is alive in us? He breathed His spirit on us and now we can live knowing that He will return for us. Are we showing brothers and sisters that there is nothing like worshiping with a body of believers? Are we testifying to the fact that no matter what we are facing, He rose so I can face tomorrow? Are we showing what we are running to church on Easter to see?
He lives!
He lives!
