Yesterday, as I was driving down the road, I saw something odd, yet strangely intriguing. There was a little raccoon on the side of the road. It had gone on to raccoon heaven. Beside it, though, was something that was noticeably not normal - out of the ordinary. There it was...laying right there...beside that lifeless raccoon...a flower attached to a balloon. It was a small memorial for the raccoon. I immediately thought that, perhaps, it was a joke. Then I realized that this was close to where the local children waited for the school bus. Someone's child, no doubt, had thought enough of the tiny animal to recognize its value.
The simple message today is to take notice of the small things - the creatures of the earth, the birds flying in the air, the flowers blooming, the tree branches blowing in the wind, and the air we breathe. Just take notice of the small, seemingly insignificant, things. They matter too.
Genesis 1:25
God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
