One of my former pastors used to talk about how people often play the 'get back' game. They think of ways to get someone back for doing something wrong to them. And today is one of those days when I have had to focus on practicing what I preach...a lot. Oh, the challenge not to even get in the game. It is like standing on the sidelines watching a group of people playing Double Dutch and just wanting to jump in...at least a little...bobbing and weaving while the ropes are turning. You want in!
At the end of the day, people have to remain in faith and stay mindful that whatever measure they give is the measure that will be returned to them - both good and evil. Do not be tempted to repay evil for evil. As a matter of fact, do not even bother to play the game.
1 Peter 3
15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 16 keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. 17 For it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
