ACE #335: Let It Shine

A Lamp on a Stand

Mark 4
21 He said to them, “Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don’t you put it on its stand? 22 For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. 23 If anyone has ears to hear, let them hear.”

24 “Consider carefully what you hear,” he continued. “With the measure you use, it will be measured to you—and even more. 25 Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.”

This passage speaks of members of the body of Christ keeping their gifts to themselves - not realizing that whatever gifts God has given each of us should be shared.  We are in positions to let our lights shine everywhere we go - our homes, our jobs, our church houses, and in the community.

This passage also indicates that knowledge, as a type of light, is to be communicated to all of those who can hear...and are willing to receive the message.

Finally, whatever measure an individual gives is the same measure at which things will be returned.

God desires for us to be generous in giving whatever gifts He has given.  What gift will you give today?

The Parable of the Sower is found right before this passage.
