ACE #23: Scandal Time - Refuse to Be a Self-Righteous Sally

"I am the Lord's witness!" Yep, you heard it.  Either you cringed or you grinned.  I feel so ashamed because I did both!  The Bible very clearly states, "...do not think more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you" (Romans 12:4). Ms. Sally Langston is certainly high and mighty. Whew!

Doesn't Sally give real Christians a bad name and a tarnished image?  Doesn't her abrasive demeanor scare non-Christians? Let's keep in mind that she is a fictional Christian, right? Or is she? She is terribly judgmental, extremely arrogant, overly fault-finding, exceptionally insensitive, horribly mean-spirited and, well, just hypocritical.  She condemns everyone else's behavior, but lacks the skill to be self-reflective of her own actions.

Surely, I hope non-Christians and Christians alike do NOT look to Self-Righteous Sally as a true example of Christianity...or follow her example.  As a Christian, I learned a long time ago that one of the true indicators of Christianity is LOVE (for the Lord and our neighbors) - that is what Jesus stood for all of those years ago and still today.  While actress Kate Burton is so right in her execution of this role, Sally Langston is so wrong in the message she sends about Christianity.  So, let's always be mindful to send the right message and to refuse to be a part of "Generation Self-Righteous Sally".
