ACE #43: When the Devil Shows Up Fully Dressed

Oh, he's brave enough to knock on our doors - figuratively and literally.  What? You thought he wouldn't dare? He's bold enough to show up in any form that we just might not even expect.  He even shows up in our sin...the ones we had to think so hard to commit in the first place.  Oh, he's wrapped up in pretty, sparkly, shiny packages that appeal to our senses and our temptations - maybe even a blue dress.  What?  You never saw that one movie?  He is also called by many names - Lucifer, Satan, the enemy, and the "tempter"...

He slithered up on Eve in the Garden of Eden. You know that image of the angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other.  Maybe it isn't quite like that for some of us.  He showed up face to face, nose to nose with Jesus on the mountain and had the nerve to offer Jesus the world.  If God created the world, then how can Satan offer God's son anything He inherited in the first place?  Here's the thing, Satan cannot possibly offer any of us anything that God has already promised us! 

The word of God says to resist the devil and he will flee...no matter in what form he shows up.  So, put on your armor and shine it up real good - so that devil can see YOU coming!  And when you command him to get behind you in the name of Jesus - he has to.  That's the word of the Lord.
